
The German Energy Academy (GEA) in Jordan, in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), successfully launched the “GEA-IKI Project” at Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) in Amman, Jordan, which will run from 2025-2027. GEA, established in 2021, is supported by GIZ, the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) under the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership to elevate the level of vocational training in Jordan.
The Academy collaborates with leading institutions for academic, vocational, and industry engagement. The founding partners from the Jordanian side areHTU, German-Jordanian University (GJU), as well as Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) and Electric Training Centre (ETC) of NEPCO, while at the German side, it is presented by the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Egypt), the German Solar Association (BSW-Solar), and ideas into energy. Through the partnership with BSW-Solar and us, GEA integrates German expertise into its training programs, equipping youth with the skills needed for the renewable energy sector.
Over the next two and a half years ideas into energy will develop a series of new vocational training courses together with its partners, and will implement them as pilot trainings in Amman as well as train-the-trainer courses. To this end, experienced training providers from Germany and lecturers from Jordan will be commissioned to jointly develop the agenda and training materials and carry out the trainings and courses. In addition, ideas into energy, together with the BSW-Solar and the Jordanian partners, will continue and expand the bilateral internship programme for young professionals from Jordan, offering internships of several months at German companies. which has been in place since 2023.
